    Tim van Rijthoven Facts

  • Tim, at the youth tier, had reached a peak world ranking of number 13 (in 2015) and had reached the quarter-final of the 2014 Wimbledon Championships in the boys’ singles event.
  • At the youth tier, in the boys’ doubles format, he had reached the semi-final of the 2014 Wimbledon Championships, the quarter-final of the 2014 US Open, and the quarter-final of the 2015 Australian Open.
  • He had come into the spotlight on the senior circuit in June 2022 when he clinched the 2022 Rosmalen Championships, the first singles title of his career on the ATP Tour. In the semi-final of the tournament, he defeated Félix Auger-Aliassime (then ranked 9th in the world), recording his first career win over a player ranked in the ‘Top 10’ of the official ATP singles rankings.
  • In the final of the tournament, he shocked then world number 2 and top seed Daniil Medvedev in straight sets to lift the title. This feat had made him the then lowest-ranked player to have won an ATP Tour title in the calendar year 2022, the lowest-ranked player to have won an ATP Tour title since 2021, and the first Dutchman to have won an ATP 250 Series event since 2003. The performance had seen him climb 99 positions up in the singles rankings.
  • Consequently, he received a wildcard into the 2022 Wimbledon Championships where he made his Grand Slam main-draw debut. He went on to reach the 4th round of the tournament, becoming just the 3rd player in the past 2 years to achieve this feat on his Grand Slam debut.
  • He also became the first wildcard since Nick Kyrgios to reach the 4th round of the Wimbledon Championships. Tim’s fairytale tournament came to an end in the Round of 16 where he lost to the top seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic in 4 sets.
