Buyer shares wild before and after photos of new home

A homeowner has been left in disbelief after discovering how the previous owners left the backyard upon moving out.

South Australian woman Kaitlyn Bilston recently took to TikTok to share before and after photos of the backyard of her new home, with viewers branding the state of the home “wild” and “unreal”.

The ‘before’ photos show it covered in gravel, with numerous plants and planter boxes, along with a series of pavers.

Ms Bilston said this is how the backyard looked when they first inspected the home and a week prior to the settlement.

The mum revealed they had an agreement that the previous owner could take the planters with them, but she was horrified when she discovered the state in which the backyard was left.

Footage shows a huge amount of dirt now covering the once perfectly manicured yard, with the pavers also appearing to have been ripped out of the ground.

Weeds and various bricks are strewn over the areas where the planter boxes used to be.

The mum also shared a text message exchange with the previous owner, in which they inform her that 95 per cent of the garden beds had been removed but they would also “remove the dirt” left behind as well.

“All plants have been taken out and been levelled out,” the previous owner confirms in a follow up message, which Ms Bilston says is “perfect” and thanks them.

In the comment section of the videos, the mum says she “didn’t mind” that the planters were taken, but it was how the yard was left that “upsets” her.

She also claimed the inside of the home was left “filthy” and accused the sellers of not moving out on the settlement date.

Many viewers were horrified by the way the garden had been left.

“It’s one thing to take the garden beds, it’s a whole other thing entirely to leave the yard looking like that!” one person said.

“Taking the planters and pavers is WILD!! you shouldn’t have accepted it like that,” another wrote.

One person noted it was a lot of work pulling everything up and questioned whether it was “really worth it”.

However, there were other commenters who were less sympathetic, with one telling the new owners to “get over it”.

“It’s not the end of the world get over it, just get a shovel and start working on it,” they said,

Other’s questioned why they went through with the settlement if this is how the yard was left.

“Why didn’t u do a pre settlement inspection and tell them clean it if u were not happy?” one asked.

Another claimed it was a “rookie mistake” to accept the settlement with the yard in such a state.
